How to "UN-GRANIFY" floral

Okay so for those of you that read this title and said, "un-granify, what does that mean?" Please keep moving, no I am joking you're right where you belong. So many people associate floral with being an old lady trend or something their moms would wear. So your mom might wear floral print items, but there are so many great ways to make floral look awesome and rock that mother...

I was inspired last night by all the flowers and trees blooming and decided to plan my outfit around that. I ended up searching high and low for this skirt, I call it my oldie but goodie and am so glad I was able to find it in all the packed boxes.

Here is my spring inspired look--sorry about the shades it was super sunny!

I wanted to play up the pink in the skirt so I did so by adding a pink ruffled shirt. I chose the ruffle top to carry the dimension from the skirt throughout the outfit. My watch is gold and silver which I matched to my necklace that is also silver with gold around the crystal center. As for earrings I chose gold earrings with crystal jewels that complimented the necklace and watch perfectly. The nude flats were used to make my legs look longer since the skirt is a bit longer than I typically wear and I am on the shorter side so faking long legs is a plus.

  1. Oversized Sunglasses: purchased in Belize while on my cruise These are fun options
  2.  Ruffle shirt: Express (super old) Love this sleeveless option
  3. Floral print skirt: Talbot's High- rise option for Asos
  4. Nude Flats: Target Click here to check them out
  5. Necklace: Brighton (no longer available) Digging this alternative even more
  6. Boyfriend two toned Watch: Fossil Love this watch
  7. Earrings: I got these as a gift so I am not sure where they came from
If I wanted to change this up I would use: black heels, white crisp collared button up, blazer, or a green ruffle top.

I would stay away from any form of blue, because it would clash with the black background and pink and green floral print.

Feedback and questions are welcomed and greatly appreciated. I can only grow with the continued constructive criticism from others.

Confidence is the key

Happy Monday!! I hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed their Holiday weekend and got to spend time with their families and friends.

Lately I have had numerous people reach out to me saying they need help with what to wear or that they always feel like they look bad when they try. The biggest key to fashion is CONFIDENCE. The way I see it is that if you are confident your outfit will look 100 times better. Own what you are wearing and the compliments will start coming from all over the place.

With that being said, let's move on to my outfit of the day. This morning I was super tired because Ben left at 4 am to go back to Florida and I didn't sleep well last night. I wanted something comfortable that would keep my cool in this 80+ weather, but was still office appropriate.

I apologize in advance about the picture quality as this was taken at work where there wasn't many options for a back drop.

I was so excited to put on this skirt this morning, because the moment I saw it at the Loft I knew I had to have it. (I am obsessed with lace and frill) In order for my eyes to pop I made sure to wear a bright color that would compliment my natural eye color. I wanted to bring the shine from my watch and accessories all the way down my outfit and I did that by adding these metallic sandals.

Ways to change this outfit around: chambray shirt, purple shirt, cognac wedges, gold accessories, statement necklace

For a complete list of where to find my outfit, please see the below list and click on the links for alternative options.

What would you like to read/see on my blog?

So let's cut to the chase here since this is my first post. When I started this blog I was bound and determined to post on it everyday, but as you can probably guess that didn't happen. Over this past week I have been going through an emotional roller coaster where I have been trying to figure out exactly what I want to do and where I want to go with my life. I felt as if there was something missing that was here before (minus my husband who now lives in FL for work). That's when it hit me like a ton of watermelons (bricks seemed too cliche in this instance) I missed writing. blogging, and fashion. I have always been passionate about writing and clothes since I was really young. I have decided to make a point to start my fashion blog again, so here is where you come in.

Things I need to make this happen:

1. dedicated readers
2. readers that will harass me when I don't post
3. ideas of what you would like me to post on here (Please keep it PG and fashion related)

Please leave a comment below with any suggestions you may have!

Also, I want to give a huge thanks to everyone that has supported me via phone calls, Facebook, and texts about me starting my blog back up.
